I have dry, extremely frizzy hair with split ends. It is very difficult to tame my unruly hair. Straightening, other heating methods and chemicals has resulted in hair damage and they have become brittle and lifeless. I experienced hair breakage.
The Garnier package landed at the correct time as soon as I finished my current hair care products. I had picked the Garnier Good Bye Damage Range from the super market before. I felt the shampoo was a bit drying but I liked the conditioner.
My package had the Long and Strong Shampoo and Good Bye Damage Conditioner. Apart from this, there was one more product that fascinated me. I tried the Garnier Fructis Good Bye Damage Split End Bandage Serum and it was a love affair at first sight. Read my review to know why.
This season, don’t lose your head over split ends for Garnier brings this ‘Fructis Goodbye Damage Split Ends Serum’. Its active ingredient, keratphyll, along with the unique blend of vitamins and amino acids, will not only seal and bind your split ends, but will also make your hair silky smooth and beautifully shining.Garnier Fructis Goodbye Damage Split Ends Serum is a rich, daily treatment that can be applied to wet or dry hair. The formula features the active ingredient keratphyll, a plant protein derivative that penetrates the hair fibre and fills in the cracks caused by damage. Alma oil conditions the hair, while vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants restore softness, strength and shine. The treatment acts as a bandage on split ends, instantly sealing and binding them.
Price: Rs 299 for 50 ml
Directions for Use: Apply to towel-dried damp hair, with a focus on fragile or damaged areas.
My Take on the Product:
The product comes in a bright orange outer carton with a similar orange coloured bottle inside. The carton carries all the details about the product but not in English. It is given in some other language.
The bottle is made of plastic and is transparent orange with a dark orange pump dispenser cap.You can see how much product is used up. There is a heart shaped sticker on the outer carton at top with bandage pattern which says ” Do not cut your split ends; Seal them “. How cute ??
The packaging is super cute and damn attractive that anyone would like to buy it at first sight. The bottle is tiny and perfectly sized for travel and carrying in your purse. The packaging is a hit and we can give 5/5.
The serum is a clear thinner gel like liquid and is runny. It feels sticky but actually goes light weighted on hair. The serum doesn’t weigh down my hair and make it oily or greasy.
You can apply it to dry as well as wet hair but I mostly use this particular serum on dry hair. Using it on damp or towel dried hair after washing gives the best results. It provides nourishment and retains moisture and controls frizz to a good extent. It adds proteins to our locks. The product has a pleasant fruity smell and I love this scent so much. It smells yum like ripe oranges and melons. The scent lingers.I can see that there is somewhat 60% improvement in my hair texture on regularly oiling, using a hair mask and serum. My hair looks more manageable coz it used to be like a dry straw. But still I can say that the split ends haven’t disappeared completely.
I love the way it makes my hair so soft and smooth. I apply it 3 times a day. You need to use a tiny amount or may be a drop. Little goes a long way. You need to reapply this after 6 to 7 hours.I am in love with this magic potion. It helps to reduce hair breakage due to dryness.
Overall, my hair felt good and less frizzy.
Here is a quick tip to remember while using a chemical based hair serums.
Use a paddle brush to massage the product and spread it on the scalp or length or ends of the hair.
Hair Serums contain silicone’s and they coat the hair like a plastic wrap. It is damaging in the long run. To minimise this use a natural organic shampoo if your hair serum is chemical based.
- Smells amazing
- Pump packaging
- A little goes a long way
- Budget friendly
- Makes hair soft and less frizzy
- No heavy feeling or doesn’t weigh down hair
- Spreads evenly
- Travel friendly
- Doesn’t smooth split ends completely ( I think chopping them off is the best way to get rid of them)
- Greasy or waxy when you use too much product
- The ingredients consists of chemicals and organic lovers would like to stay away
- The details on the package are not in English and everyone can’t decode it
- Needs reapplication
Recommendation: If you are looking for something affordable to help your dry damaged frizz prone hair, I highly recommend it. It doesn’t smooth split ends that well but it keeps frizz at bay.
Final Word: I really love this product and think this is a great one to add to your hair-care regime.
