M for Monday but for a change today M is for Maybelline. I have two of their reviews coming up. They recently sent me a few of their newest products to try and review. I have been using all of them non-stop like crazy these days.
Anyway, products aside, I was sick in bed last week. I had to take an off from work today since I have Muscular Pain in the Knees. I also had a few other health issues like sudden weight gain and I went for a medical check-up today. I had blood test and I am prescribed some Iron tablets. I decided to write short and to the point reviews hereafter than stories. Let’s go to the review now.

My Take on the Product:
The baby lips always come in a cute packaging. It comes in a twist up lipstick like tube. The body is black and the cap is transparent with the neon fonts. The shade colour is used on the top of the lid so it’s easier to determine which shade it is if you have a bunch of these. The packaging is super adorable and girly just like all the lip balms from the baby lips line.
There are six variants in the new range – Berry Bomb, Pink Shock, Oh Orange and Fierce N Tangy, Strike a Rose, Minty Sheer. The colors are vibrant, fun, and wearable. Two of them (Fierce N Tangy/Minty Sheer) apply sheer without any real color and four of them are tinted. Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop is available in 4 shades in India- Pink Shock, Berry Bomb, Oh Orange & Fierce N Tangy.
These lipblams coat a layer of sheer color over the lips, and makes lips look super healthy. The colours are very bold and bright in the tube but don’t let the color in the tube scare you. Fierce and Tangy with lime flavor goes on clear whereas Pink Shock adds a nice sheer tint of neon pink. It is either sheer or clear, in all ways it is wearable and good to use daily. Pink Shock is a darker raspberry pink.
The colour payoff is incredible considering it is a lip balm! I have Pink Shock and the color is buildable from sheer to opaque. The tinted one – Pink Shock is less moisturising compared to the clear one – Fierce N Tangy. I think the electro pop version has more tint compared to the normal baby lips. The colour lasts even when the moisture is gone.
The texture of the lip balm is soft and it glides on smooth effortlessly. It gives a shiny finish to the lips. It is moisturizing these contain shea butter as one of the ingredients. It stays on the lips for 1-3 hours if you don’t eat or drink anything. The 8H claim is not so true. I don’t mind it because these lip balms are travel friendly and fits very well inside my purse. I can reapply this anytime.
I think you can use Pink Shock whenever you want a natural wash of color to your lips. Fierce N Tangy is preferred when your lips need some repair or fix from dry parched areas especially in winters where there is a possibility for lip cracks.
My personal preference is to draw a thin layer on the lips with electro pop and not going for a thick layer as it appears greasy on my oily face. The texture is somewhat on the slippery side. The lip balm melts once it gets in touch with the lips to add some nice tint and hydration.
There is nothing exciting about the formula since it is a standard one. The formula is balmy and sometimes there is nothing special about a balm. These smell fantastic. Pink Shocks smells of water melons whereas Fierce N Tangy smells of fresh lime. The smell doesn’t last on the lips and is limited to the tube alone. I love the sweet fragrance these lipbalms carry. The taste is weird and not sweet like fruits though. There is no resemblance to plastic or artificial scent here, the subtle flavors seemed pleasant to my senses.
The lipblams doesn’t feel heavy and gives a light coverage. One cannot really expect a lip balm to give great coverage like lipsticks and this definitely works quite well as a lip balm.
I have to admit I love these! I’m a huge fan of bold neon colours. The packaging won me and layering these sheer on my lips is a thumbs up for me!
The Pink Shock is one of the best tinted lip balms for me! The swatches look beautiful! And at the price these wouldn’t hurt your pocket. Just get them and add on to your collection. These are a fun treat for your lips to add a colour and moisture for a cheap price. These are loud and daring than the normal range of colors but they all apply rather naturally!
