Looking beautiful is every woman’s dream. We apply cosmetic products like creams and makeup to tone down any skin flaws that we have. A woman uses atleast 5 to 10 products everyday containing hundreds of ingredients. Many skin care products are a source of toxins like parabens, silicones, phthalates and other artificial ingredients that do more harm than good. Even after realizing it, we neglect the commitment to change. Let us pause for a moment and feel from within that true beauty is inside out. Let us take a few steps to be a natural beauty. Natural beauty is not only something that we are born with; it is also a set of efforts to bring out the best of our features. These simple and inexpensive options are natural, safe to use, free of chemicals and actually work much better.
In this post, I would like to share the beauty rules shared by my grandma, some skincare recipes from the kitchen and steps to a natural beauty routine.
Eat healthy: Eat healthier foods like farm fresh fruits, and green leafy vegetables. Avoid oily junk packaged food stuffs such as potato chips, pizza, chocolates, cakes, soft drinks etc.
Drink Lots of Water: Water flushes away the toxins and gives your skin a beautiful glow. Make sure you intake plenty of water to stay hydrated all day long.
Workout Regularly and Breathe Fresh Air: Exercise ensures fitness and keeps you energetic. Exercise reduces the frown lines and revives you.
Sleep Well: Get atleast 8 hours of sound peaceful sleep. It will keep you relaxed and free from tensions and dark circles.
Find out your skin type and figure out what works the best for you. Analyse if your skin is dry or oily and how it behaves. After that, you can pick the products.
Wash your face with luke warm water. Never use hot water. This will open up the pores. Cleanse using a mild soap free cleanser or besan. Splash cold or normal water to wash away the dirt and close the pores. You can rub an ice cube.
Steam your face regularly by boiling a liter of water until it is very hot. Pour it into a bowl and move your face above the bowl of hot water by putting a towel over your head.
Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week with sugar, salt, ground oats or baking soda mixed with milk, curd or any other essential oil.
Use coconut oil to remove makeup naturally. To get rid of residue or product build up on hair, occasionally rinse with a mug of diluted apple cider vinegar after shampooing. You can apply egg whites as a protein pack. Rose Water is a natural toner. You can apply lime water or turmeric to bleach your facial hair naturally.
Use face packs made of neem, sandal, multani mitti, papaya or tomato depending on your skin type. Try shea butter to moisturize skin. Always use a SPF if you are going out in sun. It is important to stay out of sun else you will tan badly. Keep your skincare routine really simple. I use very less makeup and use only light weighted products.
Refrigerate sliced cucumbers and keep it above the eyes to soothe tired eyes. I use Epsom salts to take care of my hands and nails. Use Argan Oil to blow away frizz from your hair. Last but not the least; don’t forget to wear your Smile because I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls.
