Old Wives Tail Almond & Cinnamon Oil Organic Hair Mask Treatment Review !

PR Sample

I have so many complaints when it comes to my hair. I am leaning more towards natural organic beauty products these days.  I have tried numerous hair treatments in an attempt to repair the damage, but unfortunately I was only struggling to improve the condition of my hair.

I was more than excited when I was contacted by Lily from Old Wives Tail and asked if I would like to review one of their products. My hair was so dry, brittle and lifeless. Lily recommended their Almond and Cinnamon Oil Hair Mask for my dry hair. Old Wives Tail specialize in cruelty free organic hair products. Read my take on the same.

My Take on the Product:

Lily took extra care to gift wrap my product. I received this product in a hassle free manner and I didn’t have to pay any customs. Yay!

The product comes in a transparent plastic jar with a twist open white lid and an OWT Logo, a red haired faceless woman. The packaging is very simple and reminds me that good things need not come in an attractive packaging. The cap of the jar was broken during transit but thankfully, there was not much leakage or mess. I use a spatula to scoop out some product so that unhygienic issues can be avoided. The packaging can be improved but I have no issues because jar packaging is the best for hair masks even though some of you might feel it’s unhygienic. All you can do is to use a spatula. You also get an information leaflet with the product that has all the details you need.

As soon as I opened the package, there was a fresh spicy aroma of cinnamon. The product has a strong spicy woody smell. I love the natural smell. The scent is not artificial at all. The scent is a bit strong and heavy but not at all irritative or bothersome.

Texture wise the product is very rich, soft, smooth and creamy. Consistency wise it looks like peanut butter or shea butter – thick and chunky. It melts as you take it in your palm.

Out of excitement on receiving this package, I used this hair mask the wrong way first time and it created a huge mess. You are supposed to use this hair mask before shampooing. You need to apply this by rubbing the product in your palms and then on to the scalp or length of your hair. You need to cover your hair with a steamed towel for one hour after that. You know what I did was mere stupidity. I used the product after shampooing and conditioning and my hair became very greasy and sticky. It was a huge mess. I thought it is to be used that way like most of the hair masks that you buy from the stores. Then after reading the instructions, I realized it was my mistake.

The product is meant for extremely dry damaged hair and obviously it will be greasy and sticky due to natural butter and organic oils in it.

Second time, I used the product right way. This time it was a lot easier to use and mess free. My shampoo rinsed off the mask’s residue. My hair felt smooth and soft. My locks were more manageable. Even though it is given in the instructions that you may use a conditioner on your ends, I didn’t feel the need for it coz my ends were moisturised and hydrated. My strands didn’t feel ripped off. It took only a pea sized amount for the length and another pea sized amount for the scalp. It spreads well. It didn’t take nearly as much the amount as I thought it would.
The scent lingered on my hair for a couple of days. My hair smelt nice and not stinky. My hair felt clean, rejuvenated and revived.  Cinnamon is known for stopping hair fall. It got rid of the itchiness in my scalp. Hair breakage was also very less. It gave me an at home hair spa sort of experience that too loaded with natural goodness. I instantly fell in love with this hair mask.

Overall Thoughts:

I’m so impressed with this hair mask from OWT. My hair feels healthier and isn’t frizzy at all. The ends don’t look terrible. My hair smells a little like cinnamon which is again a good thing. My locks are saved and rescued. Thank You Lily. * Virtual Hugs *
