Saunter Paradise Resorts !

Hello All,

I opted to stay @ Saunter Paradise, Sigiriya for my recent visit to SriLanka. It’s located a bit far from the city, a calm and quiet place surrounded by greenish views.

We stayed in this Hotel for a single day, as the itinerary we planned needs to stay at 3 different hotels.

From Colombo Airport it takes 4hours of travel to Saunter Paradise, in fact selecting this hotel was done by our tour operator.

They have a Villa type lodging with contemporary facilities located in the heart of a private wilderness. One good thing which I must say to choose this resort is its connectivity. It’s Near to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Rock Temple, Ritigala Monastery, Minneriya National Park which are well-known for Elephants. Also, you can reach Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa the antique cities in an hour. This should be an Ideal halt for explorers en route to Passikudha.

Few incidents that didn’t happen in the way which we planned, Firstly the check-in time of the hotel is 12.00pm and we had reached the hotel much earlier. As they don’t have any free rooms we were forced to stay at the reception until the other visitors leave.   Near to reception, we can find the Swimming pool and restaurant. There were many mosquitos and we were unable to sit at reception, hence we decided to go for a short walk through the resort.  They have 45 Villas including suites and family rooms.

The swimming pool is clean and well maintained, a guard is always there for any need, and he is a nice person he offered us a bed to lay near the pool as he understood that we traveled quite long. By 11.00am they offered us tea and handed over the keys of our Villa.

It’s a nice villa with a double bed, Wi-Fi, Minibar, Refrigerator and Lockers in the room to keep our valuables. The bathroom is nice, with both cold and hotel water inflow. They provide soap, shampoo and face wash for their guests. A minibar is filled with Beers, Soda, Water, and cool drinks, which we can use and Pay before leaving the Resort.

We took a hot shower as soon as we reached. Breakfast is included in the stay; they have Western food for foreign guests and Lankan traditional food with Tea/coffee/Juice and bar running close to the restaurant.  Due to the lack of knowledge of our guide (he said dinner is included in the package) we had to have dinner from the Resort, the food was not up to our expectations and they charged us huge bucks for that buffet kind of dinner. We adjusted it as there were no nearby hotels. In fact, there was no proper guidance from the resort explaining the facilities they provide.

We had a comfortable sleep at night, as we had a long travel and trekking for the day.

One more disgusting thing that happened next day morning, we were taking bath and the room service fellow just came inside our room without knocking/ringing bell. It wasn’t expected from them. I had locked the room from inside; they used alternate keys to come inside. They must have waited or rung the bell. We thought of complaining while checking out but thought of the problems that he may face and we left paying the bills.

You can choose this hotel, as it’s near toa few Major locations in Sigiriya Including Sigiriya Lion rock temple and Dambulla cave temple.
