Eccentric Things to Do in Sri Lanka

Hello All,

I should say that Sri Lanka is Land to fulfill your to-do list. Due to my time schedule and limited holidays, I couldn’t involve in much must do things in Lanka.

  • Go for Wildlife Safari

Sri Lanka might fairly seem like a tiny dewdrop in the world map but it covers the world’s mighty biodiversity spots. Sri Lankan Asian Tuskers, Tigers, and Purple-faced Langur are easy to spot here. Taking up a Safari is a do not miss things @ Sri Lanka.

I suggest you to check out the Yala West National Park and Minneriya National Park wherein the chances are high to spot some daring leopards. December to March is the apt time to visit Yala Nation Park and if you are elephant lover visit Minneriya National Park wherein you will spot 100’s of Elephants which comes for The Gathering

Cost:- It costs you 3000LNR per head for Jeep Safari and entry to the Nation Park will be 2650 per head. It worth to spend some bucks to witness the wilderness.

  • Whale Watching

Whale watching is one of the best things to do in Sri Lanka. Watching dolphins playing is a remarkable eyeing show and its very common @ Dondra Point, Mirissa Fishery port. You have to be lucky enough to spot blue whales too.

You can be a part of the cruise which takes you from Galle to Mirissa port and at Dondra Point is where you can spot blue and sperm whales, Killer Whale and Pilot Whale. I suggest you to take a cruise at morning time to see dolphins and whales.

 Cost:  It depends on the size of the cruise, but on an average, it costs $45/head. And you can travel in cruise for 3-4hours.

  • Scuba Diving at Hikkaduwa

Your trip won’t be complete without dipping yourself in the Indian Ocean. You get close with many marine creatures in Sri Lankan underwater. Some of the most beautiful aquatic creatures such as Lionfish, rays, and nudibranch.

You can also get some best Plates of seafood at Hikkaduwa.

Cost:  Starts from $40.

  • Hot Air Ballooning

Experience the best Hot Air Ballooning to fulfill your thrill in flying high. You will love capturing some of the most gorgeous vivid moments in you, Cam. If you are lucky you can see Sri Lankan Leopard resting on the branch of the tree. It will be a majestic sight. I suggest you to use this either from Bentota or Kandalama.

Cost: Starts from $75 per person.

  • Surfing

Start off the adventure with your surf by peeling the waves! The delightful experience of surfing will certainly give you with a remarkable experience for a lifetime. Tourists come with their own surfs to involve in this adventure. Try Weligama beach for the best Surfing experience.  Few other beaches include Hikkaduwa, Arugam Bay.

If it is your first time I suggest you to depend on a trainer to learn some basics of Surfing. As the locals know better about their waters.

Cost:  They charge you $15-20.

  • Trekking

Trek to Knuckles Mountain is one of the finest things to do in Sri Lanka, and the Knuckles Mountain Range is the perfect place in the nation with imprints made by the forest department.

  • Watching Sunrise & Sunset

Galle Beach is famous for being a lovely site on the coasts of Sri Lanka to capture Sunrise and Sunset.

  • Hire in a Tuk-Tuk

You just cannot give up to travel in the tuktuk (like to autos in India). You can find sociable, easygoing and experienced drivers. Tuktuk is accessible all over Colombo city. Try not to get exploited if you check with someone know who knows the local kms rates. Tuktuk can be booked anytime through the day.

Cost: It depends on the kms you travel.

  • Drink an Orange Coconut

Coconut is easily available at all the locations in the Country. It Orange in color and tastes sweet.

Cost: It hardly costs 40rs.   

  • LSR Water Sports Centre

Its great place to relish water sports in Bentota, this spot is famed for providing a pack of services like Jet Skiing, Sofa Tube Ride and many others at amazing charges.

  • Try Hoppers a SriLankan Cuisine

Hoppers or Appam is a well-known Sri Lankan Food made with a palm toddy or yeast batter of flour, coconut milk, and several seasonings, and is steamed or pan-fried.
