25 Jul 2019 X2 River Kwai Resort, Kanchanaburi !!
X2 Resorts, pronounced as cross to, is a leading botique hotel chain with properties across asia and australia. Their X2 River Kwai is a romantic luxury 5 star resort set on the picturesque banks of the Kwai Noi river banks in Kanchanaburi Province of Thailand. As a part of our second trip to Bangkok, we decided to stay for two nights in Kanchanaburi.
The location is nearly 1.5 to 2 hours from Bangkok and twenty minutes from Kanchanaburi bus station. You can read my detailed post on Kanchanaburi here. I agree its a bit far off from the city but I am sure one will love the scenic backdrop and the remoteness of this place. The village consists of green paddy fields, lush sugar cane cropping, local temples and river view.
The resort provides cab transport services at an additional cost. Taxi service is expensive in Kanchanaburi. X2 Resort River Kwai is a perfect place to destress, unwind and relax. The place is serene and tranquil that you will never want to move out. You will get panoramic views of the mountain ranges and countryside besides the river.
X2 River Kwai is located on two acres and consists six types of rooms in total 22; XFloat Cabin, XFloat Suite, Luxe Suite, PoolXide Cabin, PoolXide Suite, Luxe Cabin, and XFloat Luxe.
The resort has amenities like The Bridge Bar & Bistro like a restaurant with an outdoor deck, library, an infinity riverfront pool with sun lounges and sunbeds, bicycles on loan, free wifi in all common areas, guarded car park, iPads on loan, CCTVs in all critical areas and 24 hour security guards & front desk.
X2 River Kwai is also suitable for corporate meetings, group getaways, private party, picnic, other functions or gatherings.
The lighting at night is really commendable. The reflecting pond base stained red lifts the ambiance during late evenings. There are blue ethnic motif tiles at the swimming pool that adds an eclectic look.
The cabins portary an uniquely designed industrial architecture. I also enjoyed soaking myself in the well crafted infinity pool. The construction is reminiscent of the famous bridge over kwai with clean minimalist lines balancing moderning. The attention to details and colors adds up a wow factor to the ambience.
I consider myself lucky for having stayed in XFloat Luxe Cabin. The cabin itself is full amenities like sleek retro furnishings, rooftop sundeck, decadent bathroom with luxurious bathtub, entertainment multimedia suite, complimentary smartphone, and a kayak. I had the best sleep of my life during my stay here in that super soft king-size bed.
You can witness a magical sunrise/sunset from the rooftop of your cabin. The bathroom fixtures are rustic yet functional. Each unit consists of a flat-screen cable/satellite TV, air conditioning, a sofa seating area, an iPod dock, hairdryer, a refrigerator, free toiletries, slippers, and bathrobes. The bathroom itself is very spacious and you can enjoy a warm shower.
The resort has shuttle service and laundry services as well.
During my days here, I never needed an alarm. I was awakened by the chirping of birds. Nature at its best !!
Included in our accommodation with half board package, we had High Tea and complimentary Breakfast in The Bridge Bar & Bistro. This rustical style restaurant is a great place to chill and offers Thai and Western cuisine to choose from. Free Breakfast set came with Champagne and Nuts/Cereal. The restaurant serves up gourmet food as well as made to order from the menu food, alongside beverages. They do have a cocktail menu also which is worth tasting.
Honestly, I enjoyed my stay there! X2 is undoubtedly the most instagrammable resort in Kanchanaburi. Their top-notch service is what makes them stand out.
